This week has been pretty busy with me flexing an all-new set of mental muscles. I’ve been working hard putting together the curriculum and course syllabuses (syllabi? Dictionary.com tells me it goes either way) for the Comic Book Art Institute (http://www.comicbookartinstitute.com). The Institute is something I’ve been putting together in conjunction with the Hal Hefner for a while now.
I’ve got an insane passion for comic books and visual storytelling and I feel like it is becoming a bit of a lost art in the modern comic book industry. I have always had the urge to try and teach some of that lost art to students and when I bumped into Hal Hefner it seemed like the right time to try and get a west coast school of comic book art set up.
In the upcoming weeks I’ll be posting more information about the Comic Book Art Institute. We’re going to be accepting students for a “beta test” of the program later on this year and will begin our first full sessions in early 2010. If you’re in the Greater Los Angeles area (or looking to move here) and want to learn comic book art and storytelling, then keep an eye on this space…or, better yet, drop me a note and I’ll put you on a mailing list to get updates on the new program.
Stop back by tomorrow for a new piece of artwork by yours truly and for a breakdown of the course curriculum I’ve put together for the Comic Book Art Institute. Until then:
