Just a bit of news from here at Mat Nastos Headquarters in lovely Covina, California. My work on the Comic Book Art Institute is progressing at an incredibly pace. I’ve designed the curriculum for our first year classes and am working on a more specific syllabus for each individual course. Our teachers will use this syllabus as a guideline for teaching the classes and each course is being designed with a specific eye towards helping students become full-time, professional comic book creators once they graduate.
We’re going to be running a “beta test” set of classes from October 2009 through December 2009. Our first full session will begin in January 2010 and is looking to have a fantastic line-up of teachers, headed by myself and Hal Hefner, of Catmonkee.Com fame.
Right now, in addition to designing the schools course work on how to draw comics, I am hard at work on the Comic Book Art Institute website. You can check out the site at: http://www.ComicBookArtInstitute.com. There isn’t much there yet, but you’ll be able to discover more about the school, our classes and our teachers. You’ll also be able to request more information and sign up for our mailing list.
I am incredibly excited about being involved with the Comic Book Art Academy. The Art Institute is going to be the most comprehensive set of comic book art classes on the West Coast and an amazing resource for anyone looking to break into the comic book industry.
Check it out!
